Go out and vote!
Your local legislators may draft the laws, but it’s up to you to decide whether they pass or not. Voting is the most effective way of creating change in your community, so if you would like to participate in an upcoming election, register to vote as soon as possible!
Where do I register to vote?
In California, you can register to vote online at http://registertovote.ca.gov/. The deadline for voter registration is 15 days before any election.
To register to vote online you will need:
- your California driver license or California identification card number;
- the last four digits of your social security number; and
- your date of birth.
If you don’t have a California driver license or ID, don’t worry — you can still apply to register online with an online interview through the above link.
Once you’ve registered to vote, you can find your polling place by looking on the back cover of your sample ballot. You can also find your polling place by visiting http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place/ and entering your address.
