Locking mailbox cause for untenable hotel

Civil Code §1941.1

A residential hotel may be deemed untenantable if it lacks a locking mailbox for each unit in the hotel.

Health and Safety Code §17958.3

All residential hotels must provide a locking mailbox meeting all the standards of apartment mailboxes as set by the United States Postal Service, including installation and maintenance. Regardless of the construction date of the residential hotel, each mailbox must meet the requirements of the Fair Housing Act, and any other greater protections passed by city or county ordinances.

 

Effective January 1, 2008.
