The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently announced regulations providing all eligible persons, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, be considered for HUD’s core housing programs.
The HUD Secretary reported that 40% of homeless youth identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), and half of those have claimed their homelessness occurred as a result of being denied access to housing due to their sexual orientation. Further, one in five transgender people have been refused housing due to gender identity discrimination. It is due to troubling statistics such as these that HUD has undertaken its work to advance the civil rights of all buyers/renters.
The regulations include the following provisions:
- owners and operators of HUD-assisted or HUD-insured housing are required to make their housing accessible without taking sexual orientation or gender identity into account, and are prohibited from asking about those identities;
- lenders are prohibited from considering sexual orientation or gender identity when determining a borrower’s eligibility for Federal Housing Administration (FHA)-insured financing; and
- LGBT couples and individuals are now explicitly included under the term “family” as beneficiaries of HUD’s programs.
HUD also requires recipients of its discretionary funds, including non-profit organizations and local agencies, to obey their local and state non-discrimination laws. [For more information regarding civil rights in the housing industry, see the November 2011 first tuesday article, A new age for fair housing.]
These new regulations become effective March 2012.
first tuesday take:The beginning of fair housing in practice? People often want to hate, or at least classify others so as to look down on them and bolster an imagined superiority. Oh yes, laws exist against acting out these deeply-held prejudices.
Government is good at many things, and clearing up pollution in rivers, lake and minds is one of them. Everyone is more comfortable afterward. Once done, government moves on.
These new regulations will be digested in next month’s Legislative Watch.

Coil of Rage ~ you think that Homo & Lez – Left stuff is bad now think about this:
When you’ve read to the end, come back and read this first paragraph again.
The character of any man is defined by how he treats his mother as the years pass…
need I say more about this person below other than there is no character, no integrity
but there is a ton of attitude and arrogance that defines his shallow past and hollow future…
I rest my case.
I bought and read Obama’s book, Audacity of Hope. It was difficult to read considering his
attitude toward everything American. Let me add a phrase he used to describe his
attitude toward whites. He harbors a “COIL OF RAGE”. His words not mine.
THIS IS OUR PRESIDENT? — HE’S RUNNING AGAIN, YOU KNOW! Is anyone out there awake?
Everyone of voting age should read these two books by him: Don’t buy them, just get them from the library.
From Dreams From My Father:
“I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.”
From Dreams From My Father:
“I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.”
From Dreams From My Father:
“There was something about her that made me wary, a little too sure of herself, maybe and white.”
From Dreams From My Father:
“It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses,
to strike out and name names.”
From Dreams From My Father:
“I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s
image, the black man, son of Africa , that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself: the attributes of
Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.”
And FINALLY………..and most scary: From Audacity of Hope:
“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
…….thus says this sitting President.
I think Obama has been very sucessfull in his agenda of agitation, dividing and conquering, redistributing wealth, putting us up side down while 5 trillion dollars were given to his friends, 20 billion to the muslim brotherhood. 10 billion to Black Rock Group, Wellington Management. Magic Johnson host three diners for him and ended up with a TV network to honor Blacks(i have no problem with people honoring each other I just don’t want to foot the bill any longer. I’m certain that a real president that respect America, Americans, business and The Constitution is all we need to lift the American spirit of brave, creative, hard working Americans again. I love America and its good, trusting, hard working decent citizens, we can raise again, my respec to the many stimulus recepients who want to continue the gravy train. they will continue liyng, liyng and liyng. IT’S UP TO US TO SMART UP OR PERISH.
So HUD passes regulations to regulate what’s already regulated. How can this not be blatant vote pandering? And the only thing harder to believe than 40% of the homeless youth are LBGT, is that 50% of these HOMELESS LBGT youth could otherwise actually qualify for a HUD loan! How stupid do they think we are?
I call B.S. on the HUD Secretary’s numbers of LBGT community homeless and yes this is typical liberal pandering for votes. Already illegal in this state. Liberal politicians and bureaucrats make me wanna Puke.
Equal rights for all. A perfect concept. The way it should be. Liberals love giving preferential treatment to pet people for a voting base, that is reverse discrimination. Any time you give preferential treatment to any group at the expense of another is wrong. Even if it is to right a perceived wrong.
Considering the fact that all discrimination is illegal, makes me wonder why this particular demographic is being singled out and needs priority attention???? Could it be just another Government intervention to pitch their liberal agenda? I think so!!
