Yes Car fights for Homeowner & Realtor rights—-however I hate their forms and most Brokers push them to there agents. I’m betting that agents would use something written in plain English and made simple for the layman to understand. Most agents I have dealt with like the First Tuesday forms better after they actually read it. The brokers not so much they don’t want to take the time to check them out and learn something new.
Most clients roll their eyes at all the legal mumbo jumbo and rely on there agents to translate if they even bother to do that. the best forms should be short and simple. Every time some one finds a reason to sue somebody –a new form is created and
and the words change. sometimes it may be for the better , but only if its really better and easer to understand
AS for collecting info from our forms who the hell do they think they are -Home land security? Ill never use them for sure.
CAR recently published a “rebuttal” to the First Tuesday article (attack?) on CAR Forms and zipLogix. The article contained reasonable information, some directly from the Dotloop.com site regarding Privacy which was especially disconcerting to me, allowing Dotloop.com a world wide license and royalty free ability to do basically whatever they want with the forms. The site also states that they collect personal information including “Name, Address, Email Address, Phone Number and information about a Real Estate transaction in which you are involved”. Why?
I have been a CAR member for all of my 27 years in the Real Estate business and have found the benefits of CAR membership far outweigh the costs.
In addition, CAR actively lobbies on behalf of Realtors (and licensed agents).
Private property rights are under constant attack, how does First Tuesday or any other firm help us with those battles? Who joins the fray with lobbyists, funds and attorneys when the Mortgage Interest Deduction is under attack? CAR does.
Not necessarily a perfect organization, but certainly one on the side of Realtors and private property rights.
